Hydes Sails teams were out in force for Cowes Week 2016.
Hyde Sails MD Nigel Grogan and his son Jack Grogan, Hyde Sails One Design and Accessories Manager, fresh after their win in the 2016 Squib Nationals were back out in their squib 'Hyderated' looking to make and impact. With day ones OCS looking to get this reinstated, a clear lead for a great win on Sunday and a 2nd place today we are hoping to see them at the top of the fleet.
Hyde Sails Yacht Production Manager Martin Newman was on board SB20 'SportsboatWorld.com' which saw them get a bullet in the first race of the regatta, the team including Jerry and Alan are looking to put in a strong result for the SB20 Grand Slam.
Hydes Quarter Tonner 'Cowes Hyde' has been out with a mix of Hydes team and friends on board. The team are looking to put the new Mills keel through it's paces as they continue to tweak and progress the boat. With a rogue Contessa in the wrong place on the start line, the team pushed hard to try and get a few places back and came in 6th. Sunday saw the crew in the top 4 with great boat speed, running down the last spinnaker leg and working every wave a shift to close in on the fleet ahead, a fellow boat pushed them into a broach. The team were quick to react but the few minutes it took to get them back on the breeze saw them drop a few places and finish in 5th.
Looking ahead to Ladies Day tomorrow Hyde Sails Office Manager Jo Roberts and Mini Sailor Nikki Curwen will be on board 'Cowes Hyde' with the rest of the team finding out if a womans touch is really all it takes!
The Hydes team are on the Island all week, please do come find us if you would like to chat about sails, racing, how to make the perfect rum and coke, alternatively if you are on the main land, our office in Hamble Point Marina is manned throughout Cowes Week, with the team ready to supply quotes, samples, drink tea and talk sailing.
Fair winds to all who are out racing!
