Today sees the first official public day and for the rest the second day of the London Boat Show. With a very positive first day on the Hyde Sails stand, the team are looking forward to welcoming customers to D051 to talk sails!
Throughout the show we will be looking to give you an insight into some of the companies that use Hyde Sails, from boat builders to holiday companies to round the World yacht racers. Today we introduce Swallow Yachts who produce a range of dayboats that combine classic looks with very modern performance. They are based in the UK and offer a standard range of boats and bespoke options to tailor to your needs. Swallow Yachts can be found on Stand D135 in the left hand section of the show. In between customers we spoke with Matt Newland:
Hyde Sails: "How many years have you been at the show?"
Matt Newland: "We have been coming to the London Boat Show for about 10 years and we are also looking to exhibit at Dussledorf in Germany for the first time this year."
Hyde Sails: "How are enquiry levels at London Boat Show this year?"
Matt Newland "We have had quite a few enquiries, for us the boat show is about building a long term customer base. Most people may not be ready to buy a boat and need to wait for circumstances to change so we need to ensure we stay current in their mind. We have customers who come back to us, sometimes after many years. There was one customer who said he saw a review of us in practical boat owner in 1998 and now he was ready to talk!"
Hyde Sails: "If you have had 10 years here at London Boat Show, what factors are making you chose to also go to Dussledorf this year?"
Matt Newland: "We want to pursue more markets, expand and grow the business, so Dussledorf is the obvious choice. This year we are taking one boat, our BayCruiser 23 and if successful we are looking to return with two or three boats. Our BayCruiser 23 recently had a great review in popular German Sailing magazine 'Yacht' making it the perfect choice."
Hyde Sails: In a post Brexit world, where some businesses may be consolidating aspects and you are looking to expand, are you finding growth is positive?
Matt Newland: "Absolutely, we have seen an minimum impact from exchange rates but overall we have had positive results. Working with Hyde Sails, allows us to add a quality sail that fits with our ethos of a classic look with a modern performance. We look forward to continuing our business relationship in 2017 and introducing more customers to Swallow Yachts and Hyde sails."
