We caught up with Suheim Sheikh our Hyde Sails distributor in India to discuss his involvement with the Deloitte Monsoon regatta and his involvement with Hyde Sails.
Hyde Sails: Who founded The Yacht Club of Hyderabad?
Suheim: I founded the club in 2009 to essentially take the sport to the grassroots of India and look for talent amongst the people here who may or may not have the means to afford sailing. I am trying to build infrastructure that is robust, sustainable and long lasting.
Hyde Sails: What is your vision for the club?
Suheim: To get at least 500 kids on the water in the next 5 years. Getting Corporates and governments involved.
Hyde Sails: Which regattas have you been involved with?
Suheim: Monsoon Regatta since 2009 - Eighth year this. Winter Regatta in Bombay- Hyde Sails supplied the Nautica Branded Sails
Hyde Sails: How are involved are you with the local community?
Suheim: My work is 99 percent with the poorest in my city and I largely work with foundations and Social Welfare organisations only. I produce a National Champion from amongst them.
Hyde Sails: Do you offer training courses?
Suheim: Yes, I coach and sometimes get in assistants from the outside
Hyde Sails: What made you decide to collaborate with Hyde Sails
Suheim: Great people to work with. Very understanding and tolerant of even small requirements . Attention to detail and quality durable sails that seem to last very long even in dusty and tropical conditions.
