Mid week report from 2016 Southampton Boat Show
Wednesday, September 21, 2016
Feedback from the team on the stand has been very positive so far at the 2016 Southampton Boat Show.
Hyde Sails have continued their development in developing their own marquee, 2015 saw us trial a marquee made from sail cloth, with various sections of the panel showing X-Cut and Tri-Radial construction along with patches and stitching. A slight inconvenience was the marquee was so much like a sail that in the high winds, it attempted to take off on more than one occasion, coupled with the very heavy downpours we decided the 2016 marquee would need a rethink.
- Enquiry levels are showing a broader range from our product selection, including racing, day sailing and cruising.
- This is reflected in cloths recommended in quotes from a HMFW woven polyester to taffeta backed carbon GPL.
The decision was made to change the material from sail cloth to a grey poly-cotton material we use for covers, which would help protect better against the rain. In regards to shape and fit we worked closely with Hyde Sails Yacht Production Manager, Martin Newman, to ensure the marquee was better suited to coping with wind and incorporated a new shaped front that can be removed when and if required.
Hyde Sails have long been known for making quality fast sails, we also produce stack packs, boom covers, boat covers and a variety of other bespoke products too! These will be showcased on our website soon, in the meantime you can find out more from the team at the show or contact the team from the comfort of your own lounge, saloon, local pub by emailing Hyde Sails UK Retail Sales Wooderz at firstname.lastname@example.org or visit www.hydesails.co.uk
