Hyde sails swallow
Hyde Sails have enjoyed a long association with the Swallow Class and have built a reputation for producing fast and consistent sails. For the last two seasons we have been working with Mike Wigmore owner of 93 ‘Gwaihir’ the most recent addition to the fleet. Mike has provided invaluable feedback enabling us to make significant improvements to our designs.

swallow MAINSAIL
This sail has remained unchanged this year as it has proved fast across the wind range. This cross cut sail has shown itself to be very powerful in light airs. As the wind increases the sail flattens off easily with use of the backstay, kicking strap and Cunningham whilst retaining an efficient shape. The head of the sail works well to provide good gust response making the boat easy to steer upwind in a breeze.

Swallow JIB
The J07A is a development of our previous standard design. The luff curve has been reduced and the leach straightened to make the sail easier to use and offer better performance in heavier airs. The sail works very well with the M07A mainsail.

Developed during 2007, the S07B spinnaker was designed on SailPack, the software developed for the Americas Cup. This sail is a substantial improvement on its predecessor. With a radial base and cross cut upper sections, the sail is fast both running and reaching. The initial development sail, S07A, was found to be fast but not particularly forgiving; it needed a lot of concentration to get the best from it. By adding slightly more shape in the head we now have a sail that is both fast and user friendly.
