Who are we?

Established in 1964, Hyde Sails manufacture around 40,000 sails per year from our modern factory in the far east. Our 300 staff are highly trained, well paid and directed from the UK where our management, sales and R&D functions are based in two offices, one at Hamble Point Marina and one in Ipswich.

We have a worldwide and increasing network of agents and distributors, we manufacture sails for independent sailmakers and OEM boat builders, but our core business is making bespoke yacht sails for individual customers.

About the Job

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven sales person to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for selling yacht sails to retail customers (direct-to-consumer), as well as sailing schools, holiday / charter companies. You will contribute to the development of account plans and strategies, identify major growth opportunities.

You will be expected to build and maintain strong strategic relationships with key customers within your allocated accounts. You will run sales and marketing processes in accordance with company procedures and standards. Taking ownership of the quote and sales processes, you will work closely with the production team in the Philippines to deliver sails to customers on time, and in full.

To excel in this role, you will need to develop a strong understanding of sail cloth and sail construction on our products, as well as their features, benefits, and applications. It is essential to stay updated on industry trends, competitor offerings, and emerging technologies relevant to our product portfolio. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to showcase thought leadership by influencing and connecting to the market via social media and LinkedIn.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Strategically identify and target potential customers on a Business to Business (B2B) and Business to Consumer (B2C) level.
  • Profile and establish connections with influential decision makers and key stakeholders within the identified customer base, leveraging your networking skills to forge valuable relationships.
  • Dive deep into understanding customer needs and sector strategies, enabling you to develop compelling opportunities for our customers, staying ahead in the competitive market.
  • Collaborate closely with the Chief Executive Officer and other Sales Managers to help craft a comprehensive sales strategy across the business.
  • Employ a consultative approach to build and nurture strong relationships with key influencers and decision makers, ensuring a personalized and tailored experience for each customer.
  • Gain profound insights into customer requirements to identify opportunities for mutual value creation, fostering long-term partnerships based on trust and mutual benefit.
  • Take the initiative in coordinating the development of action plans to successfully penetrate new markets, showcasing your entrepreneurial spirit and business acumen.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of effective marketing plans, harnessing your creativity and market knowledge to drive brand visibility and sales growth.
  • Provide valuable feedback to management regarding sales performance, offering timely insights and forecasts on annual, quarterly, and monthly sales revenue.
  • Deliver competitive pricing proposals with speed and accuracy for all prospect applications, while ensuring maximum profit margin, highlighting your financial acumen and negotiation skills.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable point of contact for clients, addressing inquiries on credit terms, products, prices, and availability, showcasing your expertise in customer service.
  • Generate insightful reports on customer needs, challenges, interests, competitive activities, and potential opportunities for new products and services, contributing to informed decision-making.
  • Conduct product trainings for customers and prospects, organizing regional technical workshops to enhance their understanding and utilization of our offerings, establishing yourself as a trusted advisor.
  • Share your expertise and experience by providing internal training to other business units, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth within the organization.

About the Ideal Candidate:

As the ideal candidate for this role, you will bring proven experience in sales and customer relations, with a minimum of 3 years in sales, you will need to demonstrate a strong understanding of this sector.
