CODE ZERO
We design our IRC Code Zeros to be the must have sail in your inventory. It covers the widest wind range through the greatest wind angles of all your sails. It is ideal for Racing both inshore and offshore fully crewed or shorthanded, combined with an Anti-torsion cable and furler it is also extremely easy to handle. It is designed under the spinnaker rule so it does not effect your IRC rating and will change your sailing inventory both upwind, typically adding 10-20% boat speed increase whilst offering downwind performance benefits such as a wider wind range.
WHY HAVE ONE?
If you’re sailing hard on the wind, there’s little to choose in performance between a headsail with a longer foot or a short-footed jib designed for self-tacking and ease of handling. However, as soon as you ease sheets, the longer foot brings much more performance. That’s where the code zero comes in as an incredibly useful sail. If you only have a short-footed jib, or if you can’t hoist a genoa because of the position of the shrouds, then you have a real gap between true wind 55 to 120 degrees.
Racing Code Zero Light Airs Close Reaching : Designed for close wind sailing angle TWA 60-110 degrees, TWS 2-12 knots, Made from code zero laminate or spinnaker cloth
Asymmetrical Spinnaker A1
(Light Running)
When you are looking to maximum performance downwind in light winds a Hyde Sails A1 is what you need! The design has been carefully optimised to create a very smooth shape allow a gentle camber profile across the sail to ease wind flow. Further development of the luff shape and leech twist allow the sheet to be eased a long way opening up the upper leech of the sail and helping acceleration which is especially fast in light and variable winds.
Apparent Wind Angle: 100 – 150 DEGREES
Apparent Wind Speed: 0 – 9 KNOTS
Asymmetrical Spinnaker A2
(All purpose)
The HYDE SAILS A2 is your go to downwind sail and is essential for light to medium wind when the angles change dramatically with small pressure increases. It’s a stable design that is extremely easy to trim. The design incorporates a flatter broader shoulder head profile, which makes the sail more stable in VMG conditions.
Apparent Wind Angle: 95 – 160 DEGREES
Apparent Wind Speed: 7 – 16 KNOTS
Asymmetrical Spinnaker A3
(Heavy Airs/Reaching)
When you need to get the most out of your boat in downwind performance when reaching or sailing higher angles, or in strong winds, you will need a HYDE SAILS A3. The sails sticks to the design philosophy of keep the sail easy to trim. However, the sail is made from heavier cloth and flatter in shape to match the increased speeds being achieved in the greater wind. STABLE – FAST – EASY TO TRIM
Apparent Wind Angle: 50 – 150 DEGREES
Apparent Wind Speed: 15 – 25 KNOTS
A1 VMG Light Airs Reaching Asymmetric: Designed for light air high reaching angles
